I have moved most of my work inside where it's climate controlled.
All instrument check-ins will now go through the front door where we may visit in comfort.
I accept CASH, SILVER Personal Checks made out to: David Meek, and also PayPal at: [email protected]
Bench Fee is $80.00 per hour and is charged to the nearest quarter hour. This Fee is my only only charge... That amount is represented by the number of hours in the second column. This way, you may have an accurate idea of final cost without any surprises.
Back Separation |
4 |
This is where the back body wood has broken loose from the side wood. Usually, the kirfing will have to be replaced as well. |
Body Crack |
4 |
All wood fibers must be aligned properly for the best possible finish. Often times, the repair will be visible. However, will be undetectable by feel. |
Saddle Replacement (Bleached Bone) |
0.5 |
This will start as a bone blank that must be shaped, formed and slotted. |
Brace Repair (per Brace) |
1 |
Braces that simply need to be cleaned and re-glued will not fall under this charge. Rather, the time taken for the re-glue will be charged under the Bench Fee however, drying time is never charged. |
Bridge Replacement (12 String) |
4 |
Guitars usually require an exact replacement. The old bridge will be used to create an exact copy for the replacement. |
Bridge Replacement (6 String) |
4 |
Exactly the same procedure as the 12 string bridge replacement. |
Bridge Replacement with under saddle pick up |
4.5 |
Exactly the same procedure as the bridge replacement. |
Bridge Re-Seat (12 string) |
2 |
In some cases, the bridge has to be completely separated from the soundboard. Most of the time however, all of the wood fibers will still be there. |
Bridge Re-Seat (6 string) |
2 |
Exactly the same procedure as above. |
Dent and Ding Stabilization |
0.25 |
Per dent or ding. |
Electrical Diagnosis |
0.25 |
This charge is for my time and will be applied weather corrective work is performed or not. |
Fingerboard Level and Oil |
0.75 |
Frets are never removed for this procedure. All inlays will be perfectly flush with the wood around them. |
Fret Level and Re-Crown W/ binding |
2 |
This is really only done if the frets aren't within .002 of each other. |
Fret Level and Re-Crown |
2 |
Same as with binding. |
Fret Replacement W/ binding |
1.25 |
Each fret that needs to be replaced. |
Fret Replacement |
1 |
Each fret replaced. |
Headstock Crack |
4 |
These kinds of cracks are harder to repair because all of the wood fibers have to line up and cannot cross anywhere. As long as they are straight, the bond will actually be stronger than the wood around it. |
Inlay |
4 |
This is per individual inlay. |
Neck Replacement |
1.5 |
Bolt on necks. Shims KILL sustain. New necks will be matched, or body pockets changed to fit the proper angle so proper action may be reached without lowering bridge saddles. |
Neck Re-Set |
7 |
This is done in order to correct the neck to body angle for good string to fret "action". This involves very precise math and very, VERY sharp tools! |
Nut Replacement (bone) |
2 |
All these start off as a blank that I carve to exactly fit the neck/fingerboard where the old nut was. Then they are meticulously shaped, slotted and polished. |
Nut Replacement (plastic) |
0.75 |
These are supposed to be "factory direct replacements" but still need some shaping and the slot depths are almost never correct, but always correctable. |
Pick-Up Pocket Milled |
1.5 |
This can NEVER be undone. |
Pick-Up Replacement |
0.75 |
This is for each pick-up that is replaced and does not include the cost of the new pick-up added. |
Pot Replacement |
0.5 |
I will always try and clean all electrical components before they are replaced. Pots that do not need replacing will not be. |
Re-Wire |
1.5 |
This does not include the cost of any electrical component. |
Set-Up 12 string |
1.25 |
All set-ups include minor nut, fret and saddle work in order to get the proper intonation. |
Set-Up 6 string w/tremolo |
1 |
All set-ups include minor nut, fret and saddle work in order to get the proper intonation. |
Set-Up 6 string and 4,5,6 string BASS |
0.75 |
All set-ups include minor nut, fret and saddle work in order to get the proper intonation. |
Top Separation |
4 |
This is usually caused from the instrument landing on it's end. New kirfing will need to be made and all the old wood fibers dealt with and all the old glue needs to be cleaned out as well. Sometimes the perfling needs to be replaced where it may have shrunk. |
Truss Rod Restore/Repair |
2.5 |
Sometimes the wood under the truss rod nut gets broken, cracked, and/or crushed and needs to be repaired BEFORE the truss rod may be repaired. |
Tuner Replacement 12 string |
2 |
Often time post hole and screw locations will change. All old holes will be filled and level. |
